"Do or Die" – Mahatma Gandhi

Every year on 9 August, India observes Quit India Day to commemorate the historic Quit India Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1942. The movement inspired millions of Indians to unite in the struggle for independence and became a defining moment in India's freedom movement.

The Quit India Movement called upon the British to leave India immediately and encouraged people from all walks of life—students, teachers, workers, farmers, and ordinary citizens—to participate peacefully in the fight for freedom. Despite facing arrests and hardships, the spirit of patriotism remained unshaken, paving the way for India's independence in 1947.

To mark this important occasion, the PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Srikakulam Library invites all students to explore books on:

• India's Freedom Struggle
• Mahatma Gandhi and his life
• Indian National Movement
• Freedom Fighters of India
• Biographies of National Leaders
• Constitution and Nation Building

Reading these books will help students understand the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and inspire them to become responsible and informed citizens.
