Constitution Day also known as 'Samvidhan Divas', is celebrated in our country on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect from 26th January 1950.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 19th November 2015 notified the decision of Government of India to celebrate the 26th day of November every year as 'Constitution Day' to promote Constitution values among citizens.

Constitution Day 2022: Interesting Facts

1. People must know that it took around  2 years 11 months 18 days to prepare the Indian Constitution.
2. Indian constitution is the largest written constitution in the world.
3. The original copy of the constitution was written by hand.
4. The original copies of the Constitution are preserved inside the Library of Parliament. The box in which it is kept is filled with helium and wrapped in flannel cloth with naphthalene balls.
5. Each page of the constitution has a gold leaf frame and the opening page of each chapter has some form of artwork.
6. The renowned writer Prem Narayan Raizada had prepared the original copies of the constitution.
7. The basic structure of the Indian Constitution is based on the Government of India Act 1935.
